The Devil is a very mysterious character in Christianity. Although he is called the "Devil," that does not necessarily mean that he is evil. He is, however, known for his devious ways, which include tricking people into doing things they would otherwise never do. The idea of the Devil tricking you into doing something you wouldn't normally do makes sense in relation to how he tricked Jesus when they were in the desert.

The Devil showed Himself to be extremely handsome; this was when Jesus was tempted by the Devil. If you were tempted by the Devil's attractiveness rather than his deviousness, it might make more sense to you why he did it.
